The European Chain reaction is a European Quality Label winning eTwinning project that was first organised in 2011.
The project is a contest and a European collaboration between primary schools from as many as possible European countries.
In the contest primary schools compete for the honour and a nice trophy: Which country builds and films the most astonishing and creative Rube Goldberg / Robert Storm Petersen chain reaction? The competing children are the only judges in this game!
In the end all videos will be edited to ONE BIG CROSS BORDER EUROPEAN CHAIN REACTION! (European Chain Reaction 2011 video)
In 2011 Germany was the outstanding winner of this fun science competition. They made this absolutely amazing video and they learned a lot about pulleys, chains, levers, ...
In 2012 Belgium managed to win the competition by creating this chain reaction!
In 2013 Norway was crowned the ECR-2013 winner as they made this feel-good and up tempo chain reaction!
In 2014 Belgium won the competition for the second time. The pupils created this chain reaction.
In 2015 Kindergarten Rasselband from Germany won the title with this amazing machine to feed the sheep.
In 2016 Belgium won its third title with this chain reaction.
In 2017 Belgium won its 4th title this outstanding chain reaction.
In 2018 Belgium won its 5th title with this sophisticated water pump.
In 2019 Austria won with this amazing chain reaction.
In 2020 Finland won with a charming Lego-boy waking up the 6th graders who were tired after the Christmas break.
In 2021 the world was struck with the Covid-19 pandemic. Many schools had great dificulties making a chain reaction in the way they wanted. But this extra challenge produced many creative chains! The winner was Estonia with their pandemic machine.
In 2022 Belgium won with an amazing technical chain reaction.
And now in 2023 the project is organised for the thirteenth year!!
